Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're looking for a buggy jog with or just a stroller that can be used for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spots.

For an easy ride, opt for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
Figures have just been released that show that the three-wheeled vehicle which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sense is on the verge of disappearing. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more versatile and easy to drive and look elegant.
The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found it coped well with grass, cobbles rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is solid to push and extremely solid when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need periodic pumping) offer built-in suspension which was extremely comfortable for my children.
Another thing to think about is the size of the seat and shape. The seat should be big enough to allow your child to feel comfortable and allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of lying flat, which lets your child face you, whereas others only allow a parent-facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and muddy walks. This buggy can be used as a single unit from birth and then adapts to take two children when your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth to age 4 and includes a bumper and raincover, a new 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood, and a handy pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies that are off-road. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with swivel wheels at the front to assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This can also help if you bump into the roots of a tree or stray road, as the front wheel will lift up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheel pushchairs have air filled tyres which means they can be used on many different terrains and are far more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They're also lighter. They are prone to punctures, and you'll require a repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are among our favorite 3-wheelers. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to easily move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system that according to her "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite large, and may struggle to fit in tight spaces. This can be an issue if you're using it as an exercise bike or to to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and about. Most models come with compact folding options, which let you remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.
Easy to manoeuvre
One of the primary benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver, especially with a child in tow. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels turn on a dime, and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for challenging terrain such as parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was particularly useful." I was also amazed by the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely stable when going downhill or on uneven ground."
The only downside to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind when you live in a city. If 3 wheeler pushchairs is an issue then a 4-wheel buggy may be better for you.

The sling seat made of fabric sits comfortably inside the frame as opposed to over it as modular seats do, providing the lowest centre of gravity at the right height for your newborn and also providing excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it takes much less effort to push the buggy over and up the curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and it's a good option for jogging due to its lockable swivel wheel on the front and air filled tyres.

Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy offers the most maneuverability and performance when going off-road. With the perfect geometry and weight distribution, this type of buggy can change direction on a dime and be a breeze to steer with just one hand. Mountain Buggies are tested to the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with four wheels.
The sport's clever design puts the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, not sitting on top as modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity which means it's easier to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you don't have to exert the same effort to raise the buggy's front end over the curb) and also provides more stability and balance. With 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres that allow you to enjoy a smoother, more comfortable jogging.

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also loved the space of this buggy. There's a big easy-to-access basket that's quite spacious for a buggy this small as well as a handy zipped pouch on the rear of the seat and two smaller mesh pockets in the hood to store your phone and keys.
